The easiest way to get it done is by searching “MATIC” on Chainlist and clicking “Add To Metamask” on “Matic (Polygon) Testnet Mumbai”, and you are good to go.

But if you prefer to add it manually, here’s how it can be done:

Step 1: Click on the dropdown menu on top of the MetaMask wallet extension.

Step 2: Click on “Add Network” and add the following parameters in the blank space.

Network Name: Mumbai Testnet

New RPC URL: https://rpc-mumbai.maticvigil.com/

Chain ID: 80001

Currency Symbol: MATIC

Block Explorer URL: https://mumbai.polygonscan.com/

Step 3: Click on “Save” and you’re good to go.

Accessing the Polygon Testnet Faucet

Step 1: Access the following website: https://faucet.matic.network/ and make sure the following parameter are set:

Step 2: Add your address. Note that this address is the same for your ETH wallet.

Step 3: Confirm the transaction.

Step 4: Once the transaction is confirmed, you will be able to check the transaction in the Matic’s version of Etherscan when clicking on “here”: https://explorer-mumbai.maticvigil.com/

Step 5: As you can see, here is a quick summary of the amount transferred to you in the Polygon block explorer (Polygonscan).
